STS2329 - Advanced Surgical Techniques, Procedures and Professional Skills Credits: 4 Prerequisites: STS 2323 and STS 2944 Corequisites: STS 2945 This course is a continuation of STS 2323 and STS 2324 , designed to teach the skills necessary to function as a Surgical Technologist in the operating room including principles of aseptic technique, including a basic understanding of robotics and their use in the operating room setting. In addition, an understanding of the principles of physics and electricity as it relates to the operating room environment will be covered. This course also includes a review of surgical anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, relevant equipment, supplies and techniques regarding procurement and transplant procedures. Students will gain computer knowledge as it relates to the surgical application of computers, computer hardware, computer software, graphics and basic internet. This course will also expand the student employability skills, professional resume writing and participation in mock interviews. This course will also discuss the steps in becoming a CST, outlining procedures for applying and taking the National CST exam and review for the CST exam.
