SON2140L - Vascular and Small Parts Sonography Lab Credits: 2 Corequisites: SON 2140 During this laboratory training, students will practice the physics and instrumentation of Doppler ultrasound, normal hemodynamics and hemodynamics present in disease states, protocols and diagnostic criteria related to small parts, cerebrovascular as well as peripheral vascular system imaging. This course provides students with an opportunity to learn and demonstrate a variety of nonroutine sonographic procedures and special topics such as prostate, penile, breast, noncardiac chest, neonatal/infant and pediatric abdomen. Students will be introduced to abdominal and female pelvis Doppler applications, ultrasound-guided interventional techniques and emergent abdominal procedures. Anatomy and physiology of the cerebrovascular and peripheral vascular systems will be demonstrated. Pathological changes that occur during disease processes will be emphasized. Normal and abnormal color flow and spectral Doppler flow patterns will be explored. Emphasis will be placed on normal and abnormal velocities and their relevance. Students will complete laboratory proficiencies in the laboratory. Terms offered: F Classification: Occupational
