SON2140 - Vascular and Small Parts Sonography Credits: 3 Corequisites: SON 2140L In this course students will review the physics and instrumentation of Doppler ultrasound, learn normal hemodynamics and hemodynamics present in disease states, protocols and diagnostic criteria related to small parts and cerebrovascular as well as peripheral vascular system imaging. This course covers a variety of non-routine sonographic procedures and special topics such as prostate, penile, breast, noncardiac chest, neonatal/infant and pediatric imaging. This course covers abdominal and female pelvis Doppler applications, ultrasound-guided interventional techniques and emergent abdominal procedures. Anatomy and physiology of the extracranial and intracranial vessels will be discussed. Pathological changes that occur during disease processes will be emphasized. Normal and abnormal color flow and spectral Doppler flow patterns will be discussed. Emphasis will be placed on normal and abnormal velocities and their relevance. An introduction to surgical treatments and postsurgical sonographic evaluation will be included. Terms offered: F Classification: Occupational
