RET1024L - Principles of Respiratory Care Lab Credits: 1 Corequisites: RET 1024 This course is a laboratory practicum designed to introduce students to the basic therapeutics involved in the delivery of respiratory care. The course will provide the student with opportunities to gather and assemble equipment required to administer the following therapeutics safely and effectively: basic oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, small volume nebulizers and meter dose inhalers, incentive spirometers, breathing exercises, and chest physiotherapy. Additionally, in simulated practice, they will demonstrate the ability to instruct patients in the proper use of therapeutic equipment to optimize desired outcomes. The student will also be expected to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and correct problems as needed. Terms offered: W Classification: Occupational
