SON2212C - Medical Sonographic Physics II Credits: 3 This course is a continuation of the Medical Sonographic Physics I course. It is designed to present the sonography student with detailed explanations of sound physics and instrumentation, the theory of physics principles and their practical applications. Principles of instrumentation and practical applications are presented in a laboratory setting, correlating theory with clinical application. It provides an in-depth explanation of ultrasound physics as it relates to real-time imaging and instrumentation. It examines various aspects of ultrasound system designs and emphasizes essential ultrasound topics such as pre and postprocessing, real-time imaging characteristics, imaging resolution, transducer types and their functions, Doppler effect, color-Doppler and spectral-Doppler instruments, types of flow, artifacts, bioeffects and safety. Terms offered: W Classification: Occupational
