SON2122 - Obstetrics and Gynecology Sonography II Credits: 2 Prerequisites: SON 1121 and SON 1121L Corequisites: SON 2122L This course provides an in-depth study of pathology, pathophysiology, disease states and sonographic appearances of obstetric and gynecological structures. It teaches students about instrumentation and scanning technique optimization for pathological findings. Sonographic identification of abnormal fetal growth and development in the first, second and third trimesters, and major congenital abnormalities are also discussed. Students will examine clinical symptoms, relevant laboratory tests and the pathophysiology of pertinent diseases and fetal defects. This course teaches students about sonographic images of pathological states as well as correlation with patient medical history and the findings of other imaging modalities.
