JOU2345 - Writing for Online Media
Credits: 3
A course designed to provide fundamental instruction and practice in mass media online writing and design. This class produces the online college newspaper, the Patriot Press. Students will be expected to edit and post stories and photos on the Patriot Press website. The course has a second equally important function, to teach students the principles and practices of good professional mass media through lectures, readings and hands-on experience. It is designed as a foundation course upon which all other studies in mass media can be based. The focus in this course is on the development of critical thinking skills needed by today’s journalists, with an emphasis on integrity and on protecting and preserving First Amendment press freedoms, correct online writing/design skills and Associated Press style.
