EEC4301 - Cognitive Experiences for Young Children Credits: 3 Prerequisites: EDF 2005 and EEC 3012 Corequisites: LAE 4416 Students will identify developmentally appropriate and integrated content and methodology in the area of emergent numeracy and mathematical thinking; physical development; science; social studies; the arts; and emergent and beginning literacy, developing substantive understanding of six components of reading as a process. Disciplinary texts and developmentally appropriate methods, materials, activities and assessment for each area will be introduced through practical applications and strategies that are based on current research. In addition to class meetings, a minimum of 15 hours of field experience in a diverse age 3 to grade 3 setting is required. Successful completion of this course is a grade of C or better. This course satisfies Florida Reading Endorsement (2011) Competency One and is a Florida ESOL (2010) endorsement infused class. Terms offered: F Classification: Baccalaureate
