The Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in Business and Organizational Management is a pathway to becoming an effective leader in a wide range of industries. This program develops a student’s management expertise, preparing them for administrative and leadership roles across diverse sectors. With specializations in Accounting, Agribusiness Management, Equine Studies, Management Information Systems, Health Care Management, Human Resources Management, Public Safety Administration and Logistics and Supply Chain Management, the B.A.S. program allows students to tailor their personalized career path. With this degree, students will gain strategic skills and specialized knowledge to drive success in a variety of business settings.

Students accepted for these programs must have completed either an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science or Associate in Applied Science degree in an appropriate field, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. A minimum of 60 credits from the student’s associate degree will count toward completion of the program. Additional General Education and/or technical specialization courses may be required. Students should work closely with their advisor to ensure that all program requirements are met.

A grade of C or better is required in all technical, program core and program specialization courses, and all courses used to satisfy the Gordon Rule requirement. Students transferring into baccalaureate programs with an A.A. degree or higher do not need to meet our General Education requirements with the exception of college level English and Gordon Rule math. These students must have successfully completed, with a grade of C or better, at least one college level English and one Gordon Rule math course. General Education courses must total 36 credits. The A.A. or higher degree must be from an accredited institution but can be public, private and/or out of state. Additional coursework may be required for students transferring into B.A.S. programs with an A.S. or A.A.S. degree.

B105: Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Organizational Management - Public Safety Administration Specialization

The Public Safety Administration Specialization under the Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Organizational Management degree focuses on the vital skills students need to excel across diverse public safety environments, from law enforcement and fire services to corrections, security, and emergency medical services. Students learn the strategic administration of public safety organizations, learning how to leverage management principles for effective operations, sound financial management, and strategic budgeting within these vital sectors. This program is designed for students with an associate degree in a public safety program such as criminal justice, fire science, emergency management, or emergency medical services.

Graduates are well-prepared for a wide array of administrative and leadership roles across diverse public safety settings, enabling advancement within these organizations. This degree provides a versatile foundation for future career growth in public safety.

Requirements


Required Technical Specialization Courses


Courses in this section will be comprised of those General Education or area-related Technical Specialization courses needed to fulfill the requirements of the program. These courses will vary based on the student’s associate-level coursework. Students will work with their advisor to choose the necessary coursework for their program. The Public Safety Administration Specialization requires students to take 21 credits of technical courses. The technical course options include courses with the following prefixes: ACG, BUL, BUS, CET, CCJ, CGS, CIS, CJC, CJE, CJJ, CJL, COP, DSC, ECO, ENT, EMS, FES, FFP, GEB, GIS, LOG, MAN, MAR, MGT, MNA, OST, SBM, PLA or TRA.
