This is a limited access program where both program admission and course registration are restricted to a certain number of students meeting predetermined criteria. The Dental Hygiene program is designed to train individuals to perform as efficient dental professionals in the dental health environment. Dental hygienists are preventive oral health professionals licensed to provide educational, clinical, research, administrative and therapeutic services supporting total health through the promotion of optimum oral health.  Upon completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Dental Hygiene Board examination and the state clinical examination to receive licensure. To become a dental hygienist in Florida, students must meet the Requirements of the Florida Board of Dentistry and this program prepares students to meet those requirements.
