TSL2522 - ESOL Foundations: Language and Culture

This course is designed to help future teachers develop a strong foundation in the relationship between language, culture, and learning for Multilingual Learners. Teacher candidates will explore key theories of culture and second language acquisition, gaining insight into how language functions as a system and how cultural factors influence language development. The course also examines the various elements that impact how Multilingual Learners acquire English and build literacy skills. Content and objectives are aligned with ESOL Domain 1: Culture (Cross-Cultural Communications) to satisfy the necessary requirements for teacher certification.
