ANS2074C - Injury and Rehabilitation of Horses

Prerequisites: ANS 1073C  
This class addresses the most common equine orthopedic and soft tissue injuries and discusses contributing factors, basic pathology, diagnostic methods, treatments, and how the normal healing process can be enhanced using rehabilitation therapy. A description of these therapeutic modalities, including ultrasound, stretching, laser, magnetic field therapy, joint mobilization, acupressure, cold/heat therapy and hydrotherapy, among others, will be studied in conjunction with guest speakers, field trips and hands-on practice. Current scientific research in the field of equine rehabilitation will be discussed.
