Title IX/Campus SaVE Act (Clery)/VAWA

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. To learn more about Title IX, visit https://www.knowyourix.org/college-resources/title-ix/

The Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (Campus SaVE) Act, an amendment to the Clery Act, requires higher education institutions to increase transparency about crimes of sexual violence on campus, guarantee rights for victims of sexual violence and provide certain accommodations, provide certain standards in institutional conduct proceedings, and provide campus-wide prevention educational programming. To learn about the Campus SaVE Act visit https://www.stetson.edu/law/conferences/highered/archive/media/SaVE%20Summary.pdf

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), reauthorized in 2022, creates and supports cost-effective responses to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. To learn more about VAWA, visit https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/03/16/fact-sheet-reauthorization-of-the-violence-against-women-act-vawa/

Together, these three laws guide the college’s efforts to respond to reports of sexual harassment, and provide ongoing education and prevention programming.

Should you ever find yourself in a situation where you are being sexually harassed (this includes sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, or stalking) do not hesitate to dial 911.
